You seem to think that “eye for an eye” is about vengeance. It’s not. Look it up.
Eye for an eye, in the sense it was used long, long ago, meant a proportional response. It has mutated since then to mean “at least equal vengeance”, but the key portion of it is the revenge part. A harm has been done to you, so a harm is done to the one who harmed you.
Again, you claimed it formed the basis for a lot of legal systems. you have failed to provide a single legal system it forms the basis of. Can you actually do so?
