I think in this case, though, Mormons are somewhat insulated by Romney’s personality. I don’t presume to know anything about his spiritual life, but he’s such an abnormal-seeming person I don’t see it reflecting on other Mormons.

On the other hand, I also think that most mainstream Christians are pretty ignorant about Mormon theology, and if they understood it better would be a lot more hostile towards Mormons.

You mean like if there were people who traveled around and gave talks on how weird the heretical Mormons are?
