It’s a large part of why I’ve avoided discussions about the matter. There really doesn’t seem to be a “good guy” this time around, just the right-wing Israel gov’t against Hamas, with Gazans stuck in the middle.

Israeli citizens as well since they’ve spent a deal of time previous and during the ground attack in Gaza going to and from shelters due to rocket attacks.

That they haven’t suffered many casualties shouldn’t diminish this. Israel is spent resources and effort trying to protect their citizens from this - and the cross-border attacks before that.

And those and the rocket attacks are a cause belli that pretty much *would* have triggered a war by now in any other part of the world. Part of the responsibilities that come with being an effective nation-state.
