Politicians Reach Deal to Mortgage America's Future

A what-if scenario that I posted earlier at MM:

Suppose the Democrats have less than 50 guaranteed votes, maybe much less, and those on the fence want to see some Republican votes first. I bet a lot of Democrats have a barely-controlled case of upset stomach right now.

After all, $800 billion is a lot of money (do we have it?). There’s at least $250 billion that could be easily cut (neither jobs, nor tax-breaks), and there’s a Democratic Congressman who’s coming up with a no-pork $175 billion stimulus bill on his own.

If this bill fails, we will likely see many new faces in Congress in 2010.

The Question: what happens if, during the roll-call vote, no Republicans vote for the bill?

Remember, Obama’s record of spending money is essentially a $150 million failure.

How many remaining Democrats will vote for it?

How many will change their vote?
