Son of a president, brother of another, and grandson of a Senator. FDR was a distant cousin of TR’s. The connection probably wouldn’t be as well known if FDR had a different surname. A 5th cousin is pretty far removed. Put things in perspective, I’ve only recently met my 2nd cousins.

The two branches of Roosevelts knew each other pretty well, though. They did not get along, especially politically.
