When I got my license renewed this year, the clerk told everyone waiting in line “Anyone renewing a Maryland driver’s license can step over here. Make sure you have your expired license with you.”

I told her mine wasn’t expired, and she got pretty testy with me. I really wasn’t sure if she meant only people with expired licenses or everyone renewing. The guy in line next to me was also not sure. We exchaned a smile and eye roll over that.
