Yeah, I saw your sarc tag, but it still wouldn’t work because:

1.) Can you imagine the optics? The US would become an instant pariah among Western nations, in part because it would inflame the entire Muslim world to the point where no Westerner would be able to safely set foot in any Muslim majority country. It would also almost surely radicalize many naturalized and Western born citizens.

2.) The US would be immediately cut off from all petroleum originating in the Middle East. I’m guessing that would cause major economic problems, not to mention political ones when gas suddenly shoots up to $10/gal or whatever, and every business’ operating costs skyrocket (i.e. it’s not just gas, it’s plastic and all the other petroleum by-products, including how it would impact the military).

3.) We’re talking about the concern being terrorists getting in, not law abiding regular Muslims (I’m not gonna say “moderate” because it makes it sound like that’s some special category instead of the vast majority of Muslims). How long does anyone suppose it would take a terrorist leader to find a scholar who (at gunpoint or otherwise) would issue a fatwa declaring stepping on the pages acceptable as long as it was for the cause?

How many fucking sarc tags do I need? I am aware that the proposal is as asinine and useless as Trump’s original proposal.
