That’s my point: THE SFGATE writers never specified whether any US papers carried the fake quote. In fact, they never said one way or the other. This may be because they don’t know, can’t be bothered to check, or simply don’t care one way or the other.

If, however, you point with pride to this as evidence of the superiority of american print journalism, then you damn with faint praise, indeed.
