Charles, is there a way to pause these embedded Giphy animations? Clicking it only opens the GIF in a new tab, I see no option to pause it here :(

Try clicking the “refresh” icon (the arrow on the far right in the upper right corner of the comment box). That usually brings the box back to its “original” configuration.
(worked for me in # 3).
