He’s speaking to ‘all the people’ and the subject was not race or racism but responses to his opponent’s use of ‘unshackle’ with regards to banking industry and regulation.

I don’t think he meant race or slavery imagery at all. This is a Tempest in a MicroTeaspoon.

Would it be a problem if he meant slavery imagery? And why?

It’s as though people are defending him against the very idea. Why? What would be so terrible if that’s exactly what he meant? Do people disagree?
