I was going to say that all the most reasonable solutions involve killing a number of deer and of course not wasting the tasty meat. And if you’re gonna control a population - sorry girls - but it’s the DOES you want to remove.

A number of states with out of control deer populations will let you take as many as one doe A DAY for the entire hunting season, but only a limited number of mature bucks. But meat hunters prefer the does, anyway.

Often, however, suburban dwellers object to hunting, and want the local government to hire sharpshooters to kill the deer. Not sure how that’s any better, especially if the meat is wasted! I’m sure the deer don’t notice the difference.
