Multiculturalism, in practice, does not mean cultures mingling freely with each other as if they are all equal, except they go home and cook different meals.

It means groups of different cultures living largely separately, working largely separately, speaking largely different first languages and then supposedly loving each other at the same time.

People aren’t like that and this kind of semantic distortion is what gets us in trouble.

That’s not multiculturalism, what you’re describing sounds more like ethnic balkanization or informal apartheid.
