BTW - I do agree that a CEO in a tech-related business should indeed be in possession of this type of skill background, or an alternatively-acquired similar set of skills. That’s part of what I meant about the way CEOs get selected being bad, since many of them do not, in fact, have that background.

In fact, I think that nowadays, most leaders in any organization should have this type of background, since the alternative, as we see, is a bunch of Liberal Arts majors (grumble grumble) spouting off about whether things can be moved to the cloud and/or data-mined for game-changing insights.

On the other hand, Steve Jobs was a college drop out, and didn’t code or engineer. Sometimes what you need is vision and the right people around you.
