As far as anyone knows, bubonic plague arrived in San Francisco in 1900 from Asia. Rats. Ship. Etc. Naturally it was covered up by everyone because of The Economy and therefore was able to spread unchecked. More here.

Hmm. Governor Henry Gage (R) was in office in 1900. The article says he also secured the Surgeon General serving under President William McKinley (R).

So the Republican Party has lots of experience in covering up disease and plague to retain power in the name of profit.
