Is it high due to demand (i.e.,,, lack of rentable houses/ apts)?

Here in Atlanta houses for rent/ lease are relatively cheap. Often for less than what the owner is paying for the mortgage just to offset some of the costs

I do a lot of work at a county jail. Every week the offices are packed with vultures for the sheriffs sale. Doesn’t look like the mortgage meltdown is going to end anytime soon.
