The two best candidates (in the sense they’d have a decent shot at getting more than 42% of the vote) the CAGOP have, have both declined to run for either office - current San Diego Mayor Kevin Faulconer and former Fresno Mayor Ashley Swearengin. Even Arnold has declined to run for the Senate.

And I think I mentioned a few days ago, based on registration numbers, they’re almost a third party behind Decline to State (the official name for independents out here, who are about 1.5% behind Republicans in registration).
