Lottery update: Saturday’s PowerBall jackpot was won here in California.

Actually, barely inside California was the ticket purchased. It was bought at the “California Lottery at Gold Ranch” store, which can be seen here:

It’s a building right next to the state line with Nevada, on part of a casino just outside of Reno. So people can go gamble at the casino, then walk across the parking lot so they can buy California Lottery tickets.

How convenient.

That’s not unlike the Border Inn on the NV/UT border. You can gamble on the NV side and buy gas in Utah (lower tax). Can’t remember if it makes a difference for which side the motel rooms are on.
