re: #104 Occasional Reader

So avanti, I’m curious; as a self-declared liberal, don’t you find anything a little… odd… about the President of the United States declaring that one of the “responsibilities” of his office is to “fight negative stereotypes about Islam”?

Because I have to say, I checked Article II of the Constitution, and I’m having the darndest trouble finding that one.

Maybe it’s in the penumbras and emanations?

Maybe I missed it, but there is nothing in Article II of the constitution that says anything about the Creating Jobs, Fixing the Economy, Holding State Dinners, Giving Memorial Speeches, and Writing to the Loved Ones of the Soldiers who’ve honored this country with their blood and service. These are all things that aren’t mentioned in Article II but they’ve become piece of Presidential Duty. If the President feels that fighting negative stereotypes about Islam will keep American’s safer, I won’t begrudge him the effort. Oh and one more rejoinder, look at good ole article II, there is nothing in the original text that says the President’s job is to defend AMERICANS, it says to defend the Constitution.
