Stranger things have happened. Back when the government was cracking down on banks looking the other way with laundered money, Bloomberg ran a story about how a branch bank vault at the now-gobbled up Wachovia actually smelled like fabric softener. The drug dealer was actually laundering his takings.
That used to be a preferred method for counterfeiters to simulate โwornโ bills - toss โem in the dryer with a dryer sheet and let โem spin. It made it harder to detect that the bills werenโt printed on the correct stock, which is tightly controlled by Treasury.
