We where informed that if another person goes down, we are not to touch them, we are to call 911 and wait. When we asked building manager about using the defibrillator, she reverted to rule 1, don’t touch and call 911.
That is truly bizarre. If there’s one thing they drill into you during ACLS training, it’s that rapid defibrillation saves lives, and you should have an automatic defibrillator around anyplace where someone might suddenly die (everywhere, basically).
I wonder if you could get sued for not using a defibrillator when there’s one right there?
