Well it reminds me of when I was 22 and in Cambodia Vietnam as an infantryman for the US Army.
But you’re basic point about Afghanistan (and Pakistan too, frankly) is correct - but the particular brand of barbarian we faced in the Taliban is responsible for hiding and trying to protect the one guy who planned the attacks of 9/11. I see no reason whatsoever to allow the Taliban to continue to have any influence in Afghanistan.
