re: #196 HappyWarrior

I’ve contended for some time that John Edwards was right to talk about two Americas but I think he was wrong about the economic implications. You got many Americans, I’d say our crowd here and in urban areas and many suburban areas that have embraced our changes as a country. They had no problem with a Kenyan-American as their President. They embraced Obergefell as the right decision. They are perhaps immigrants themselves, children or grandchildren of them, or at the very least have immigrants who are very special to them in their friends and or family. They embrace change. Then you have the others. Obama’s election scared the crap out of them. They honestly don’t like being told that change has happened and that’s who the Tea Party first got to and later Trump.

Mostly, the people most afraid of change are the ones living where there hasn’t been much change. People who live where almost everyone is white are most afraid of immigrants and PoC’s. People who live where there are no Muslims are the most Islamophobic. People who don’t realize they know any gay people are most afraid of marriage equality.
