Democracies do tend to have a “pendulum” cycle between their respective parties and policies. (Mexico is a notable exception)

However, unassuaged anger can effectively break the system and allow for a malignant political player to get in. If the people in a given country are deeply unhappy about a social problem (in this case, unassimilated and hostile Muslim immigrants) and the accepted political parties are not taking notice, than bad actors like Vlaams Belang start getting noticed.

It may hurt their objectivity but that’s not the same as endorsing the party. It’s more likely the blog simply refrains from criticizing the party beyond a certain point.

I note that the MSM in this country does not call out batshit insane people like Glen Beck, FWIW. When you have some idiot in Pennsylvania trying to get Intelligent Design into the school curriculum, the MSM goes into false equivalency mode and reports “The controversy” and treats the wacko’s viewpoint as being equally valid. I don’t know if Mikko Sandt is correct, but the model does apply here in the US.
