I think the US is trying to play the “our SOBs” game with Abbas, because as much as Abbas isn’t any LGF’ers idea of a hero, Fatah and Hamas haven’t exactly been best buddies as of late. With Hamas’ parent group the Muslim Brotherhood being beaten back in Egypt, this could be a way to really make them feel the pinch.
