The Ukrainian military needs to bluntly say “Any attempt to invade Ukraine or otherwise interfere in its territory on the part of the Russians will be met with maximum force by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

Then (if I were in charge of the EU and NATO), I’d say the same thing. Publicly. And I’d put NATO on alert, publicly, and tell Putin to back off.

But then again, I confess to being somewhat hardcore about things.

Personally I’d take it a step further and say any military action on Russia’s part, whether to put down the revolution or to return Yanuk to power, will be regarded as an act of war upon the Ukrainian people and will be met with equal or greater force.
