I see little or no desire by Islam’s spokespeople to become part of the West as far as our values such as a preference against war and violence, to do unto others. to live and let live, to respect others, defend the weak, etc. I’m biased in favor of these enlightenment values and would like to live in a society that holds them dear.

Unfortunately the West has sullied our own reputation by filling the airwaves with violent smut out the wazoo. Ask any foreign national familiar with our culture stands for and you are more likely to hear about sex, drugs and rock ‘n roll than you are the enlightenment.

Not that this excuses radicalsim but it sure doesn’t help the moderates align or identify with us.
