FU it was a cheap attempt to hide a sucky agenda behind a noble sounding bill. Proof the Rs don’t have the votes to stop it so a bunch of D’s had to defect… sorry truth hurts.

What do you mean? Is it so difficult to understand to vote for a bill like this? Why let is gather dust on the floor where Republicans can staple other, really shitty, amendments onto it? If you read a little further below the fold at that link, you’ll read a telling comment of one Republican coward on why the bill failed!

What we are doing tonight is a cruel hoax and a charade. Everyone knows this bill won’t get the 2/3 majority required on the suspension calendar and everyone also knows that this bill would pass with a clear majority if the Democrat leadership would allow it to come to the floor under the regular procedures of the House.

The reason HR 847 is not being brought up under regular order is the majority party is petrified of having its members face a potential vote on illegal immigration.

Why would you poison a health-care bill for those heroes of 9-11 with immigration laws?? Because the party of NO wants it that way. And now they are playing politics over the backs of those suffering from after-effects of the attack on New York. An attack the Republicans milked for it’s patriotism. And now the real patriots are left in the cold!
