That’s right. It’s your money and if you’re middle-aged currently, you may not even end up with that!

I’ve watched my elderly relatives suffer through illness. Some were wealthy, some were not. Some were middle class who lost everything either through divorce, widow(ed) or lost businesses. Some had to rely on social security and family help alone.

My mother had to go back to work at 70 and worked until 74. Actually, she worked for an ombudsman who would get grants for the elderly for things like fixing plumbing, bad roofs. You pay off your house after 30 years, and then you have a whole new set of expensive problems.

I live to put money to my retirement. It really freaks me out.
