Step 3 of the right wing’s opposition to doing anything about climate change, right here.

1) Deny it’s happening.

2) Claim “a little warming might be good for the planet”.

3) “If China and India do nothing, there’s no point in us doing anything.”

4) Repeat from 1).

And it boils down to “economics, economics, economics”. Especially for the short term. If we cut back we lose money. If China and India don’t while we do they gain advantage. If it’s a false alarm (yea, right) and we cut back we lose money.

And remember that we’re #1. And a world leader as well…
