The thing about the criticisms of Thatcher is that they were made while she was alive, too. She got called “The Milksnatcher” while she was Prime Minister, for fuck’s sake. She was an incredibly divisive figure who was hated for actual, real actions.

Lautenberg is disliked for fantasies, not realities.

The other thing is there are people calling Lautenberg a traitor. Yes, the last sitting US senator to serve in WWII was a traitor. And he also was a living example of why this country is great. He grew up poor but put himself through school and became successful.
