Pat served with the First Marine Division in Korea, as division liquor officer. His duties mostly consisted of ensuring that the officer’s clubs were adequately supplied with hooch. This was no doubt a challenging assignment but there were considerably more challenging ones available to gung-ho officers.

Pat sued former Congressman Pete McCloskey (who was also in the First Division and had known Robertson there) for publicly revealing this in a 1987 letter. He withdrew the suit, however, and paid McCloskey’s court costs.
