All true. But if we need more money for SS, we can get it out of the general fund if we want. I just don’t see where there is much more room for tweaking the retirement age, since payments are already based on a retirement age of 66-67 not 65. That means people who do hard physical work, or are in poor health are stuck taking a lower monthly payment if they can’t work past 65. I’m guessing this hits the people who are least likely to have savings or 401Ks, much less pensions to supplement their SS.
