I know someone who is a Jehovah’s Witness. They (the *elders*) decide how much she spends on groceries each week.

My eldest sister is a JW. She lost custody of her children many years ago when her then-husband brought up the fact in court that JWs don’t allow blood transfusions (among other things), and therefore the children should be with him.
