That goes back to the idea that our economy in the last many decades has done better under Democrats than Republicans.

The only thing I can see is something else going on: Such people want to impose their social or moral issues more than they value their wealth.

Folk like the Koch Brothers have to know that an unstable nation would destroy their own wealth.

People like the DeVos family are quite clear that they want a theocracy over their own wealth.

The GOP seems the vehicle most likely to provide a theocratic/libertarian nation.

The Koch Bros are libertarians not theocrats. Their only concern is maximizing their wealth during their lifetime, not the future of the planet or the country. They certainly know that climate change is real but they are afraid that if the government takes any action to save the planet, it would affect their bottom line. They may not be as smart as they think they are — that seems to be a common failing among libertarians. It’s not until their whole endeavor collapses around them that they temporarily awake and demand help from the government.
