again we are tailspinning off on a remark that is at best just inappropriate and irrelevant…meanwhile Trump and his appointees are dismantling government and we are squabbling about details

The racism and ignorance of the Pocahontas remark go to the heart of Trumpism and modern conservatism, its real motives for trying to dismantle the federal government. The racist base hates the federal government because it enforces the civil rights laws, equal opportunity, fair housing and employment, school integration, etc. They have formed an alliance of convenience with rapacious millionaires who see the feds as the enemy for quite different reasons, OSHA, the EPA, the SEC, and so on.
