re: #148 Hecubaā€™s daughter

What is this nonsense showing the ā€œleftā€ taking ketamine? Itā€™s body builders ā€” arenā€™t they equally likely to be on the right as the left?

Just to note that ketamine is officially approved by the FDA in a nasal form for treatment of otherwise treatment-resistant depression.

fda.gov

Also, thereā€™s a legal gray area where some psychiatrists have set up practices with ketamine infusions for intractable depression. Ketamine appears to work for some but (a) has to be redone every month or two, (b) are not cheap ($400-$800 per treatment) and (c) not covered by insurance. I casually looked into it because I take a pharmacy (ok, three different meds) to keep chronic major depression in check. The cost of the three meds (covered by insurance) plus the prescriber visit (not covered by insurance because I went off-plan) are significantly less than ketamine. However, if my depression was intractable and not treatable, yeah, Iā€™d look into it more closely.

tl;dr Ketamine has legitimate uses and Sully can STFU.
