The basal origins of the Greek eschatos supposedly come from the same source as the Latin exire and exitus, from which we get our verb and noun “exit”.

So “eschatology” also means “the study of how to get out”, which is quite appropriate for the evangelicals who are hoping for some sort of Rapture.
