In their little fantasy world, the money saved through the abolition of other taxes will actually make up for the double digit sales tax, plus said “fair tax” will also be a voluntary tax. And before you say it, yes, this means that tax revenues will very likely plummet. But to the “starve the beast” crowd, that’s a feature, not a bug.

Indeed, a fantasy world. Spending on retail and large-ticket items (appliances, cars, etc) will exponentially decrease over time because the 30% sales tax will start making items unattainable. Because of the drop in spending, manufacturers/companies will have to raise prices, layoff employees, and/or shut down. Thus, the downward spiral will only get worse and worse. Less spending, higher prices, less employment. The fair tax crowd are fucking idiots.
