The one I was thinking of was Scott Gunderson, R congressman from Osseo WI. He was good on ag issues, could say he was wrong and willing to be corrected and though he rode in on Reagan’s coattails was never a rubber stamp. He was also a gay man in a long term committed relationship - when he was outed the Gingrich congress forced him out. IIRC, he and his partner are still together 20 years later. FU Newt.

Even if they’re good individuals, they enable a lot of structural damage in the House and Senate just through caucus and herd behavior.
