Here’s the problem for me if we just give the military whatever they want…

We’re gonna end up spending 17 years and 14 billion dollars on the R&D for a “scout” that is too slow and obvious to do recon, a troop transport that doesn’t have the room for troops, and an anti-tank vehicle that is has armor which releases toxic gasses if it takes a hit itself.

The people who control the purse strings aren’t our soldiers on the ground, they can be as interested as their own personal projects as any other government employee…

I have no problem with defense being the largest expenditure by far - it’s the core of what the feds are supposed to do. I get that there’s tons of waste, and I get that we are not allowed to see a certain amount of the spending, and what it’s being spent on. At the end of the day, we have some badass shit and a very strong defense. I understand why all that is necessary. But 500 billion? What if it were 5 trillion? 50 trillion? At some point, I get uneasy about it.
