Exactly, the whole “good guy/bad guy” narrative breaks down once you recognize that the switch isn’t flipped until a crime occurs. If he’d been arrested yesterday with his gun on him, the story would not read “Bad guy with gun caught,” but “South Carolina stomping over rights of gun owners.”
