OK, then drop the single currency and kick Greece to the curb. The countries in question aren’t going to be harmonized on points like that, the cultural disparity is too great.

The only cultural differences they’re fighting over are the ones that produce real financial hardships, the fact that the Germans work longer in a more austere society while the Greeks get to retire early but can’t pay for it. In fact the countries in question would be harmonized if they adopted identical retirement and social funding policies.

I don’t agree. Different languages (which we don’t have), different histories (often of the nations in question at each other’s throats), and different approaches to government. I regard the EU as a misbegotten sham and I want it gone.

OK, you’ve made the whole thing bizarrely personal when it really has nothing to do with you. This seems to be about how you hate the idea of multi-culturalsim, not about the real world financial concerns of the people who are actually involved. They aren’t fighting over language or history or the past, they’re fighting over money. As far as different approaches to government go you said the fact that the EU was destroying sovereignty was the problem with it’s exactly the opposite, they’re retaining far too much sovereignty to practically maintain the single currency that the Eurozone (not the EU, there’s a difference) has locked itself into.
