Supporters mark Manning’s 1000th day in prison

FORT LEAVENWORTH, Ks. — Supporters of the man arrested for leaking classified government documents held rallies across the globe Saturday. They are criticizing what they call his unjust persecution on the 1000th day of his time in prison without a trial.

One demonstration was held in front of the entrance to Fort Leavenworth. It is one of 40 international demonstrations, all in support of Pfc. Bradley Manning.

“He’s a truth teller and were here to support Bradley and anyone willing to tell the truth about what this government is doing,” said Nicholas Battles, a supporter.

…However, the group has also seen its share of opposition. Some drivers of the cars passing by the demonstration Saturday yelled “Go home!” And some opponents have described Manning as a traitor.
