Then what is the difference between D & R?
Rs win elections :/
Srsly tho, read the Joy Reid thread Jaunte just posted. We’ve also bemoaned low voter turnout among Dems without being able to figure out what to actually do about it. My personal theory is that non-voters who might otherwise go for Dems suffer from a combo of low-info, apathy, and learned helplessness. I also think they don’t perceive Dems as *fighting* for their interests (this touches on the whole caring/empathy thing, yes, but don’t forget the reality-TV-trash aspect of American culture. People *like* seeing a smack-down and feel nothing but contempt for “wimps.” That’s probably why “going high” isn’t working - non-voters perceive it as weakness, not strength).
