Look at our options. We can’t do that and we can’t amend the Constitution to make the Senate either more representative or to strip it of power like most upper houses, because the small states will block it. we can give DC and Puerto Rico statehood, and we can gerrymander new democratic majority states out of the California superstate. Don’t tell me it can’t be done; California has 40 million people, as many as the 22 smallest states combined, and far more of them are Democrats than Republicans.

Now lets say you get your way and divide California into 3 states.

Are you aware that under the Texas Annexation Act of 1845, there is a provision in the law that allowed Texas to be split into five states?
