What a great post, buzz. As usual, you are spot-on. I understood the point of the cartoon, but analogies like these hadn’t occurred to me.

I’m a forever fan of The Wizard of Oz and it was my first thought on seeing the cartoon, but thanks to buzzsaw the strength of the analogy has been written up succinctly but powerfully.
