Some sources who frequently email me from the Washington DC area are telling me that many national security careerists are turning down Trump administration jobs.

The good news keeps rolling in. That means the core natsec positions will go unfilled, or filled by less qualified people who don’t have the institutional knowledge to do their jobs efficiently and professionally.

And this is another reason that the Trump admin is going to be a shit show. They simply don’t have qualified and reasonable people to do the job. Any of the jobs.

They’ve picked ideologues and extremists, and the careerists know this is bad. The problem though is that someone has to do the job - and who do we want - people who can’t do the job properly, or people who are reluctantly going to be roped into do it.
