re: #212 Anymouse 🌹

The issue I’m not letting go is purity pony voters, not the specific candidate.

Moving to a different topic, home tornado shelters.

My wife has been talking to a company in Texas for three days about underground shelters they sell. (The company deals with a local contractor and ships the pre-built shelter to the contractor.)

She got an answer today from them: Sorry. You’re too rural, we can’t ship to you.

- How about our rail siding here?

Sorry, we won’t use rail. Perhaps you should build something above ground.

- What’s the point of that?

It would appear we’re on our own here. I’ve suggested to my wife in the past to get a contractor to look into our root cellar and see if that is safe or if it could be reinforced if it’s not. After that, contract to redo the staircase into the cellar so it can accommodate her. (I’m not sure why she’s resisting this idea.)

‘mouse, I’ll just make one more two part comment on Mello.

1A. I’m thinking abortion is more a life or death kind of thing that is even more important than gun control. It is such a strong individual thing to be determined and women and their supporters are just not going to ever give up on it. It can be a litmus test…because it was a hard fight that was made into law. Mello did not support the law. Not a good look for a real Democrat. And women don’t want to fight what was already fought. And they shouldn’t have to.

1B. Opinion from you as an admitted and firm atheist. Would not an atheist be very strong in defense of abortion rights since the other side of the political divide is pretty much 100% religious thinking? In other words, there is no debate.

No need to answer if you don’t want. Just throwing those out as points to be discussed by others…or not.

(And I am not picking at you…just the debate on what can be considered purity politics and flat our necessary politics. A distinction to me.)
