Oh yeah, and she’s a muslim!

Miss USA, Rima Fakih of Dearborn, says she doesn’t believe a mosque should be built near the site of the World Trade Center in New York City.

In an interview that aired Friday on the syndicated “Inside Edition,” Fakih addressed a topic that has been generating lots of headlines and controversy. The interview was taped earlier this week while Fakih and other contestants were rehearsing in Las Vegas for Monday’s Miss Universe pageant.

“I totally agree with President Obama regarding freedom of religion,” said Fakih, a Muslim who was born in Lebanon. But she went on to say the mosque “shouldn’t be built so close to the World Trade Center. We should be more concerned with the tragedy than with religion.”

She’s going to be in the Miss Universe pageant. Go USA!
