Yeah defending segregation with a posh accent make conservatism respectable unlike George Wallace standing at the door and declaration segregation today, segregation tomororah, and segregation forevah.

The really funny thing is that Wallace in historical perspective actually comes off looking better than Buckley. Wallace at least has a narrative of sin and redemption (later when he, quite literally, “Came to Jesus”).
